Your style in 3 words?

noisy, airy, fragile

Your weakness? Your strength?

I think about too many details that nobody else even notices.

What makes you different?

I am just a bit of a nerd, that’s all.

When did you decide to become a sound artist?

When I was a kid I really wanted to become a pianist. Then gradually I found out that I wanted to work in a more creative way, not only playing what others had composed. So, gradually I started working on my own pieces. But still today I like to try out a lot of different things and not limit myself to one medium necessarily. I do sound, but I also do audiovisual works, performance and I write text.

Do you choose your art form, or does the form choose you?

I think you should always choose, but then it is also nice to just go with the flow, recognize and take opportunities if they are given to you.

What do you find most fascinating about your work?

You can plan a lot of things, but you will never know how things will turn out eventually.

A few words about your favorite creation?

I once made a piece of music only using the recorded sound of cracking eggshells, which is one of my favorite sounds in the world. I just love to listen to this sound!

Someone else’s work that inspired or inspires you…

I love the work of Holly Herndon.

A new project coming up or an idea you want to work on?

Right now I am working on a new piece for the Music Biennale in Venice, which will involve a lot of recorded vocal sounds of people that are close to me in one way or another. I will perform it myself, which is always a huge ch

Finish the sentence „More important than my career is…“

To find meaning in doing what I do. And also being able to do something meaningful for other people.

2023: Where are we going?

I am not very optimistic about where we are going…

Do you think about time as an artist?

As a composer, thinking about the shaping and forming of time is probably the most important thing.

When the going gets tough…

keep going, still.

Put on your future vision glasses: What direction is our generation moving in, what will our world look like in 50 years?

I really hope that we are moving away from those hyper-individualistic structures towards building communities that respect the others, what surrounds us, and also what is seemingly far from us.

What would you do if you could change the World?

Make everyone listen more consciously.

What does freedom mean when it comes to art?

I think freedom is meaningless until you know how to make use of it.

If the universe is everything and it’s expanding, what is it expanding into?

Nothingness.

Tell us about your future plans…

I have a lot of upcoming projects, one of which would be to finish and release my first album, which I am super excited about!

Your city’s favorite spots?

A small cinema called Bambi. And the Japanese restaurants surrounding it.

A book that everyone should read…

All about love by Bell Hooks.

Last but not least: what is your favorite Song?

This is too hard to answer.

One last statement please: „Wood or stone, gold or art?“

Make use of what you have!
