Since when i was at the high school, i have never missed one single edition of Artissima, i basically grew up with this event. Anyway during the years i’ve heard the comments of a lot of people “out of the art-world” who defined contemporary art fairs as boring, confusing. This is just because they don’t have a method, and don’t really know what to do at an art fair.

So i decided to make a How To visit this year. It’s easy! Look at the watch, then set a given time for the visit, let’s say maximum one hour. Then try to divide visual stimula you’re attracted by in logic inputs. I always oberve 3 categories: Exhibitors, Booths, Artworks. And is basically what I’m attracted by every time.

So just to keep the tradition up, here is the Artissima Best of Seen, for this year.

1) EXHIBITORS: playing at: “Who is this gallerist?” is one of my favorite games, having a chat with them is a plus, becoming friend with them means that the art fair was actually a good one.

2) BOOTHS: sometimes gallerists, considering space limits, set up amazing installation views, sometimes horrible heaps of works, here are some good installations examples.

3) ARTWORKS: I finally ask myself: “What would I buy?” I usually look either for an artist i didn’t know before, or for someone really well-known, and this year I definitely go for Alexei Meschtschanow and Olafur Eliasson.
