Where are you from?
Munich, Germany
Your style in 3 words?
material forms content
Your weakness? Your strength?
Overthinking! Overthinking!
What makes you different?
I’m as unique as anyone else.
When did you decide to become an artist?
On a daily basis.
Do you choose your art form, or does the form choose you?
It’s always a power play in-between.
What do you find most fascinating about the creative process?
The unexpected directions of research, the connections made, and the personal growth within the silence of creation.
A few words about your favorite creation?
Actually, I don’t have one single favorite creation. All my works are based on each other, so I typically like the recent ones most. Right now, I really appreciate the “pointer”; it encapsulates my long journey of research on power, money, and sexuality in our future-driven times in a very reduced but also a humorous way.
“Self-exploitation and deeptalks. It’s a constant trap.”
What surprised you most about your first art shows?
Self-exploitation and deeptalks. It’s a constant trap.
Someone else’s work that inspired or inspires you…
It’s hard to filter inspiration in our times. For me, it’s essential to know the ideas
and concepts I’m building upon. The real goal is to create your own connection
between different horizons others have worked on and find your own formal
language.
Who would you like to work with someday and why?
Time will hopefully reveal that.
A new project coming up or an idea you want to work on?
After my graduation show RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY in February, I am
looking forward to year full of great projects in Germany, Greece and Austria.
Finish the sentence ,More important than my career is…
.the people who value me as a person, not just as an position value.
2024: Where are we going?
Hopefully not backwards.
Do you think about time as an artist?
There is no way not to think about time. Most of my works create long timelines between ancient traditions and contemporary techniques.
When the going gets tough.
…stay cool.
Put on your future vision glasses: What direction is our generation moving in, what will our world look like in 50 years?
Right now, my vision is quite dystopic considering all the problems we have. But as human beings, we’ve always faced apocalyptic realities. I believe with the new technical tools we have, we could transform our societal structure into a fairer one. We know how; we just have to do it and keep power in its right place.
What would you do if you could change the World?
Redistribute power.
What does freedom mean when it comes to art?
The question of the hour. Sadly, it’s always political restricted, especially in art.
In other words, art can only be as free as we are in our society.
If the universe is everything and it’s expanding, what is it expanding
into?
The next big bang.
Tell us about your future plans…
Excited for newfound post-academic freedom, exploring opportunities
previously inaccessible. Also, my collectively art-run association, Rosa Stern
Space e.V., is transforming to another level in March… stay tuned!
A book that everyone should read…
Testo Junkie by Paul B. Preciado
Last but not least: what is your favorite Song?
It always varies with my mood. Currently enjoying “Maybe This World is
Another Planet’s Hell'” by Arms and Sleepers.
One last statement please: „Wood or stone, gold or art?”
Stone, undoubtedly!
