Who are you? What do you do?

We are two photographers, Anastasia Fugger and Carolina Pimenta. The long-term project we are currently working on is called the [gone] project. By travelling to seemingly known grounds around the world our aim is to explore a location through a unique collaboration of two lenses. Our work blurs the line between travel photography and fine art. For our first part of the series [gone] MEXICO we explored the Latin-American country from the Yucatan region to Chiapas and Oaxaca. The work is now showing in New York, and will be exhibited in Munich, Lisbon and London over the next couple of months.

Your style in 3 words?

Collaboration, Humour and “Thinking outside the Box”

Your weakness? Your strength?

Weakness: Not having enough time or budget to travel the world (just yet…). Strength: We bounce really well off of each other. As [gone] is a collaborative project it makes working together that much more fun.

What makes you different?

We both have a very different sense of perception when it comes to taking pictures, so sharing a common reflection of experience and displaying our work in duos makes the [gone] Project a unique visual dialogue between us.

What do you find most fascinating about the creative process?

Creating something that you already have visualised in your head, and being able to make it come alive for everyone else to see is very satisfying. Our idea is to allow people to join our journey, by our exploration of uncommon grounds and connect with stories we tell through our collaborative work.

When did you decide to become photographers?

We both have followed our passion for photography from an early age. We both studied photography, and have shown our individual works through various outlets. The [gone] Project is the first long term-project we are collaborating on.

A new project coming up or an idea you want to work on?

[gone] MEXICO, the exhibition we are currently showing in New York, will also be showing in Munich, Lisbon and London over the next couple of months. It is only the first country of the series with many more to come. We don’t want to say too much about the next project we’re doing, it’s a surprise. But we are also working on second collaboration, Adventures of Javier Jesus aka JJ, which will be exhibited in London in 2015.

Do you have a vision?

Through [gone] we want to capture a unique perspective of seemingly known grounds. We want to capture a different perspective of travelling the world and animate others to do the same.

Anything disturbing your vision?

Not yet!

Where are you going?

Our intent is to grow with [gone] Project, by travelling every year to a new place and further developing the series. We hope in the long-term to release a coffee table book called [gone] in which each chapter will be a different place we have explored.

Anything else?

That´s all folks!
