Who are you? What do you do?

I am a painter, working with ink, oil paint, graphit and lithography.

Where are you from?

I was born in Bonn and grew up in a tiny village in the Eifel. Currently I live in Cologne.

Your style in 3 words?

Dynamic, observing, oscillating.

Your weakness? Your strength?

Doing a lot at once while appearing relaxed.

What makes you different?

Everyone is different.

When did you decide to become an artist?

From time to time already when I was a child. But I made my final decision when I began my studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.

What do you find most fascinating about the creative process?

The process itself.

A few words about your favourite creation?

There isn´t just one that is my favourite.

Someone else’s work that inspired or inspires you…

Recently I´ve really gotten into works by photographers like Viviane Sassen and Wolfgang Tillmans.

A new project coming up or an idea you want to work on?

I am going to work on new lithographs. The conception of my paintings is a starting point for them. Playing with this printing technique is like focussing on the essence of my work, which questions the relationship between light and the possibilities of its representation. Ultimately working like this brings new input back into my paintings again.

Finish the sentence „More important than my career is…“
…my garden.

2018: Where are we going?
Hopefully to joy.

When the going gets tough…
It will be fun.

Your city’s favourite spots?
I love making a stop on the South Bridge of Cologne on the way to my studio. The view is never the same but always a beautiful one.

Do you have a vision?
My vision is always moving between “real” space and pictorial space, which becomes more or less abstract.

What would you do if you could change the World?
Get rid of brutality, ignorance and SUVs.
